Chakra Basti: 45 mins @ £35

Treatment involves a back massage, followed by application of warm medicated oil to a specific area, contained by freshly made dough rings and allowing it to penetrate

The word 'Chakra' comes from the Sanskrit language meaning a wheel or disk. Prana (life force) moves through the Chakras to produce different states, equated in modern science as the chemical changes produced by the secretions of endocrine glands and ductless glands entering the bloodstream

Basti means to cleanse or to wash. Basti treatment involves applying warm medicated oil to a specific contained area and allowing it to penetrate. These washes create very deep, penetrating heat that allows the healing qualities of the oil to profoundly infiltrate the tissue

Each Chakra is said to have a distinct purpose and function, affected by what is thought and felt. Each of the seven Chakras is associated with one of the seven endocrine glands

According to Ayurveda all of the senses, perceptions, possible states of awareness - everything it is possible to experience - can be divided into seven categories. Each category can be associated with a particular Chakra

When tension is experienced it resonates with the Chakra associated with that part of the psyche that is experiencing the stress and in the parts of the physical body associated with that Chakra

The following Chakras/areas and associated problems can be treated:

Brow Chakra

Lack of concentration, tension, headaches, eye problems, bad dreams. Will be completed with a head massage

Indian Head Massage/Shirobhayanga: 30 mins @ £25

Intensely relaxing and revitalising massage nourishes both hair and roots

Massage has played an important part in Indian life. Today, Indian infants receive a daily massage from birth until they are three years old to keep them supple and in good health. From three to six years of age, they are massaged once or twice a week. After six years of age, they are taught to share a massage with family members

Indian Head Massage (or Champissage™) works on physical, mental and subtle levels. It works on the upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, head and face; the areas most vulnerable to stress and tension

It is a de-stressing programme for the whole body

The physical benefits of the massage include:

* general and specific relaxation for muscles, providing immediate relief
* knots and nodules can be broken down
* toxins dispersed from tense, knotted muscles
* relief from chronic neck and shoulder stiffness
* loosening of scalp
* increased oxygen uptake in tissues
* improved circulation of blood
* stimulation and improvement of lymph circulation
* restoration of joint movement and mobility
* promotion of hair growth

Mental benefits include:

* sense of calmness, peace and tranquillity
* release of anxiety
* high levels of alertness and concentration
* clearer thinking
* helps to dissipate mental tiredness, edginess, depression, stress etc.

Subtle benefits:

* balancing of chakra energy
* release of stagnant energy, boosting available energy on all levels
* general energetic healing

Helps in relieving:
- tension headaches
- eye strain
- earache
- tinnitus
- jaw ache
- sinusitis
- congestion
- neck and shoulder stiffness
- insomnia
- disturbed sleep

Ideally conducted with Brahmi Amla Hair Oil (can be conducted with no oil) which strengthens hair and scalp and preventing early greying and loss of hair.
